Devils secure LaChance in transformative move | Breaking news from New Jersey Devils reaches fans.

The illustrious announcement that the New Jersey Devils have acquired forward Shane LaChance from Edmonton broke today, a trade facilitated between the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins for Trent Frederic. This exciting news came from none other than President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald. In exchange for LaChance, the Devils have traded the rights to unsigned draft choice forward Petr Hauser and have committed to retaining 50% of all future obligations to Frederic’s contract for the 2024-25 season. The Oilers and Bruins have concurrently announced the bigger transaction, which includes sending Hauser to Edmonton. LaChance, a towering 6-foot-5, 220-pound forward, is in his second season with Boston University (Hockey East) in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) level. His impressive performance this season includes 25 points (10g-15a) in 32 games. He currently ranks in the top five for goals, assists, and points among Boston skaters for the 2024-25 season, with his five game-winning goals placing him second on the team. Having accumulated 52 career points (23g-29a) in 72 NCAA games, LaChance was named team captain for the 2024-25 campaign. This talented left-handed shooter has earned accolades such as being named Hockey East Rookie of the Week in December 2023 and receiving Hockey East All-Academic honors in 2023-24. Born on August 30, 2003, in Andover, Massachusetts, LaChance was selected by the Oilers in the sixth round, 186th overall, in the 2021 NHL Draft. Prior to his college career, he spent two successful seasons in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with Youngstown, where he was named team captain and led the team to a USHL Clark Cup championship in 2022-23. It is worth noting that LaChance's father, Scott, has an impressive NHL career of 819 games over 13 seasons and is currently the Devils’ Head of U.S. Scouting. On the other hand, Hauser, a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, is now part of the Oilers' roster. Devils, Acquire, LaChance, Edmonton, NHL
