Judith Evans, a teacher found guilty of abusing a student, has been sentenced to two years in prison.

'A British teacher has been sentenced to two years in prison for sexually abusing a teenage pupil, and has been placed on the sex offenders register for life. Judith Evans, a 33-year-old teacher from Newtownabbey, admitted to grooming and engaging in sexual activities with a schoolboy at Belfast Boys' Model School. Described as a "cold, calculating child predator" by a senior police officer, Evans exchanged thousands of explicit messages with the boy and even sent explicit videos and images. The offences took place between March and May 2024, and Evans also falsely accused the teenager of sexual assault in an attempt to cover up her actions. The judge noted that Evans had taken advantage of the vulnerable child, engaging in sexual activities with him at various locations. The victim's family was deeply affected by the discovery of the abuse, and the boy himself ran away and threatened to harm himself. While Evans expressed remorse for her actions, the judge highlighted her selfish desire for attention and intimacy as the primary motivator behind the abuse. Evans has been banned from working with children and vulnerable individuals, and has accepted that she will never teach again. Det Ch Insp Jill Duffie of the Police Service of Northern Ireland condemned Evans as a "cold, calculating predator" who exploited her position of trust. She encouraged other victims of abuse to come forward and seek justice. Belfast, Northern Ireland, sexual abuse, teacher, pupil'
