M&S online services may experience interruptions until July - please bear with us during this time. Thank you!

M&S hit by cyber-attack, services disrupted till July Marks and Spencer has announced that its online services will continue to be disrupted until July following a cyber-attack last month, impacting customers' ability to order online for nearly a month. "We expect online disruption to continue throughout June and into July as we restart, then ramp up operations," stated M&S. The retailer predicts that the cyber-attack will result in a £300m loss in profits this year, more than analysts had anticipated and equivalent to a third of its profit. The attack took place over the Easter weekend, initially affecting click-and-collect and contactless payments. The police are investigating a group of hackers known as Scattered Spider, with suspicions also regarding attacks on other retailers like the Co-op and Harrods. M&S CEO, Stuart Machin, emphasized that the company was prepared for the attack, having run a cyberattack simulation the previous year. The hackers gained access through a third party, prompting M&S to take down its online system to protect customers. Despite the setbacks, M&S is confident about its turnaround strategy that involves updating in-store ranges and digital technology. The cyber-attack will impact profits for the current year, but the company aims to recover and strengthen its cybersecurity measures.
